A BIT
OF HISTORY

In 1999, following the report of the Krever’s commission, a complete reorganization in transfusion medicine happened in Quebec.

To improve transfusion practices, roles and responsabilities were established for health professionals involved in managing blood products, from blood donation to the receiver.

OUR
MISSION

Under the medical authority of blood banks directors, the Transfusion Safety Officers (TSO) have as a main objective to constantly improve the transfusion practice by using the highest standards in transfusion medicine.

Clinics procedures are established by the Standards Council of Canada (CSA Z902) and the Canadian Society of Transfusion Medicine (CSTM).

DESIGNATED CENTERS

18 hospital centers were selected as Designated Centers.

They are an organized structure that insures the management and safety of the blood system in Quebec.
